I'm trying to figure out which folder I put a bookmark in -- any
ideas?
I've got dozens of bookmark folders, and I can definitely find the
bookmark using the search tool at Manage Bookmarks, but when it
returns
a hit, there's no information about folder location, just the
bookmark
itself.
Thanks.
Step 1. Search for bookmark. Don't worry that the folder is not shown.
Step 2. Double click on the bookmark and navigate to the website.
Step 3. Click on the bookmark ribbon at the right side of the address
bar as if you were going to edit the bookmark. In the dropdown box
right
before your very eyes is the folder where the bookmark is stored. From
this point you can leave it where it is or move it where ever you
want.
Not here. The folder is "Unsorted bookmarks" and I know the
bookmark is
in a folder called "Mozilla.org". In fact, that's what is shown no
matter what bookmark I do this for. Using W7 Pro and latest release of
SeaMonkey.
I stand corrected. I tried it out several times before posting and it
worked every time. After reading your reply I tried it several times
again and about nine times out of ten it worked as I wanted, but one of
them did show up in my unsorted folder instead of where I knew it was
stored.
I'm tried it on a Windows 7 home premium machine using the latest
version of SeaMonkey.
As I recall, things only go into "Unsorted Bookmarks" if you use "click
to mark"...which I don't (and can't even remember how to do), so I just
have this annoying demi-folder that I can't get rid of hanging out there
for no reason.
But, that's not my case. For decades I have organized my bookmarks into
a folder hierarchy.

Why should any of my bookmarks show up as "unsorted"??? What the heck
does that mean?
That's been *my* question all along...supposedly there is a way to
Bookmark a url using a single click (which I haven't found, thank
God...or this is a hook for) and when you do that they go into the
Unsorted Bookmarks folder...which you can't get rid of because it's
built into the new system. At least that's what someone told me here
once...or something to that effect. Somehow you must have stumbled on
into it.
I've always organized my Bookmarks into hierarchical Folders too, and
since I've been using the Sidebar and drag/drop instead of the Bookmarks
Manager it's only gotten faster and easier. Using the Sidebar and
drag/drop is the real and only fast way to go - even for Search, now
that I've tried that.
