It's a real, genuine, formally documented bug - read the bug I cited;
the SM team itself knows about this, have documented it within the bug
writeup, seem to have some vague idea about it, but haven't fixed it.
It's one of a few OS X interface bugs that are still out there waiting
to be fixed.
