I highly doubt anyone in the SM team bothered to tailor code for my
specific Logitech keyboard's touchpad. So why would all my multi-touch
gestures work on my Windows7 setup with this keyboard/pad and not under
OSX? I assume it is my *driver* that makes it work.
I didn't have to configure anything to make my touch gestures work in
SM... but other hardware may have a setting in the driver to substitute
gestures for commands...

The OS sends multi-touch events (as well as mouse events) to the
application (e.g. SeaMonkey). It's up to the application to act on those
events or not. Firefox has code to do this. See for example:
SeaMonkey hasn't. Someone will need to implement something similar in
SeaMonkey.

We are about to go full circle in the conversation, but maybe I am
missing something...
SeaMonkey has no code for gestures on OSX, does this mean it *does* on
Windows?
Otherwise, for my specific gestures to work within SM under Windows, my
*driver* is responsible for sending the correct commands... right? If my
logic is flawed, please correct it.
*By the same token, I have much older graphic software that likewise now
supports gesture commands... there is no way my software could foresee
'gestures', let alone 'multi-touch' gestures. All that was added is my
new keyboard driver... no 'patch' or anything for the software. And
pinches work for zooming with no setup or special instructions (as an
example).*
How else could old and new software support my new keyboard? It *has* to
be the driver that is responsible... and the OS, of course.
Unless it is radically different in the Apple world...?
