Dick, et al

As suggested, I've been comparing the script on the page I originally mentioned (our main menu / introduction) with the page that someone hit upon (I wish I knew how) that happens to be the page I am currently expanding. I have also enabled the control bar on both pages which were previously hidden, plus have corrected the path error of the "bgsound" script on the Tartini page.

Currently, I am back to hearing the embedded sounds in SM only on my PC when the sound bar is visible, but have neither sounds nor the fill image of the sound bar (it is shown as corrupted) on the pages on our host server (hostgator.com). What is new on the web version (and different from what I originally reported) is that I am again prompted to install additional Quicktime software and links to the following page:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=Windows&ctype=7c9101e0&csubtype=ffffffff

Since I am not tech-savvy on new technologies, I have no idea where to go from there.

To refresh everyone's memory, these are the two pages on our website that have been mentioned:

http://www.istrianet.org/istria/index.html (the left frame page has the embedded sound)
and
http://www.istrianet.org/istria/illustri/tartini/index.htm

Thank you all for your efforts to help me resolve this lingering and chronic problem.

Hi everyone,

We have a problem is with embedded sound files on our large cultural
web site on the Main Menu at
http://www.istrianet.org/istria/index.html, and on a collection of
other pages that have embedded MIDI or WAV sounds.

One should always check web pages in the making by using
several different browsers since each one will
show a slightly different web page.

Get rid of the Quicktime plugin.
QT / .mov is not allowed on any of my machines.

interesting. I, otoh, do have Quicktime, since it came with my Mac,
but
I don't hear music on that page in SM, or Opera, or Safari, or Chrome.

Same here on my Mac, however - if I follow this link:

http://www.istrianet.org/istria/illustri/tartini/index.htm

I do hear the music and get the play bar at the bottom of the Browser
window. I'd suggest you compare the similar code for the Home page to
this one and look for any error or omission you may find regarding sound
implementation for the page content.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I'm using SM 2.19 with a minimum
of plugins on a Windows XP-SP3 system and have no problem hearing the
music and seeing the play bar when I go to her site.
