Hi everyone,

We have a problem is with embedded sound files on our large cultural
web site on the Main Menu at
http://www.istrianet.org/istria/index.html, and on a collection of
other pages that have embedded MIDI or WAV sounds.

One should always check web pages in the making by using
several different browsers since each one will
show a slightly different web page.

Get rid of the Quicktime plugin.
QT / .mov is not allowed on any of my machines.
We have no .MOV files on our system, either.

interesting. I, otoh, do have Quicktime, since it came with my Mac,
but
I don't hear music on that page in SM, or Opera, or Safari, or Chrome.

GW

That is consistent with my experience, but have not installed Opera or
Safari yet.

Does Quicktime play midi files?

The name of the file not being heard on that page is
"Pachelbel_Canon.mid, and is in the menu frame.

I don't even get prompted to install a plugin.
That also happened here, so I checked my plugins and found that
Quicktime was there. I disabled it, and then got the prompt to install
Quicktime which, of course, would not install because it was already on
my system. That exercise had no effect on the sound problem, in any case.

Yes - the one at this link (Fugue_G.mid) on the site plays for me:

http://www.istrianet.org/istria/illustri/tartini/index.htm
How did you find that page? It happens to be the page that I was
substantially expanding (text only) yesterday and used it for comparison
of our Main Menu page. However, the embedded sound was not working for
me there, either, and at one point I had two different links for the
dual script - EMBED and also BGSOUND which was needed to play sound on
older versions of IE .

So apparently it's only an issue with the OP's referenced page?
Sorry, I don't know what is "OP". :-(

Thanks,

Marisa

"OP" - "Original Poster"...;)

How I found the above link was simply to start navigating through your site until I found a page with another sound file on it. I figured that if you had one sound on one page that there had to be another one (or more)!

...and I see the music on your original link is now playing for me.
