overinstall", do you mean that you did an update to go from 2.20 to
2.21??
If so, the that files of your 2.20 install were modified as required to
become 2.21, but in the same location as 2.20, so when you thought you
were uninstalling 2.20, you were actually uninstalling 2.21.
Things are OK now because because the uninstaller knew where to find
SeaMonkey.exe v. 2.21 in the profile. So everything was uninstalled
except for the custom settings, which were in the proper location (the
profile) to begin with. I'm not sure if this was part of your question,
but the upgrade was an offline installation, which I should have noted.
I'm not sure what happened, but with computers I'm fine with trading a
lack of insight into the problem for a successful outcome, as was the
case here.

Just for my interest, could you tell me what version of SeaMonkey you
see listed in your Add/Remove Programs listing?
