I just tried to crosspost to fr.test and i agree with you, i got an
error and i cannot add the fr.test newsgroup on my reply -> my error
message is:

I think that my settings are correct.
The problem is in SM because i suddently got another error message:
Unable to save your message as draft.

Stéphane and Ray, were you subscribed to fr.test on a Usenet server
when you tried to post?? (Mind you, I don't actually know if you have
to be subscribed or not, I suspect so, so just asking!!)
I used news.mozilla.org as my newsgroup server and i did not have
fr.test subscribed.
Did you say that with SM i need to have fr.test in my subscribed
list on
this server to be able to crosspost to fr.test ?
If so, i am surprised, because using other newsgroup client program
(not
SM) i can crospost to every newsgroup the post was initially posted
evenwhile with unsubscribed ones.

That's not how SM works anymore (if it ever did). I was in a thread
here and a participant set follow-up to mozilla.general. I couldn't
post the reply to all the set newsgroups until I actually joined
mozilla.general.
So, if there is a crosspost of 10 newsgroup ... because i use SM .... i
MUST subscribe to ALL groups .... This is not normal.

I completely agree. It just doesn't make any sense.
Why bother posting to a NG that you are not subscribed to?? .... you
would be unable to check if it got there, in any case!!
Ray, fr.test is not on this mozilla server, so you would need to have
selected it on your UseNet server, if at all, and, as far as I know,
when you want to cross-post to several newsgroups, they *all* have to be
on that single news server, i.e. you cannot cross-post to several news
servers!! IMHO, of course.
