That's not how SM works anymore (if it ever did). I was in a thread
here and a participant set follow-up to mozilla.general. I couldn't
post the reply to all the set newsgroups until I actually joined
mozilla.general.

So, if there is a crosspost of 10 newsgroup ... because i use SM .... i
MUST subscribe to ALL groups .... This is not normal.

I completely agree. It just doesn't make any sense.

Makes sense to me, as I see no logic in posting to groups you have no
interest in. I always strip out those groups anyway so I haven't ever
encountered this issue....or it's not an issue back in SM 2.0 which is
the only place I have Usenet account.

I just reply a post where the guy is interested int the 10 newsgroups
.... with other newsgroups client program .... the reply goes to all 10
groups .... if it goes to a group that i am not subscribed, and there
is another guy who read a group where i did not have subscribed and
want to react on my post, if i delete his unsubscribed groups, i will
never seen his reply.

Ray,

For me, if somebody wants to carry on a conversation elsewhere and use my reply as a basis for that, fine. I don't need to join the group, but neither should my newsreader refuse to post to a group that is hosted by my news server (whether or not I'm subscribed).
