No matter how many time a delete emails they keep coming back.
How can I stop this from happening?
IMAP or POP account? Probably IMAP.
What are your settings for deleting emails from the server?
You probably need to select the account, click 'View settings for this
account', then select 'Server Settings' and remove the check mark from
'Leave messages on server', or some combination of the setting there.
I've tried all that.
Besides...
I should be able to "leave messages on server" without them coming
back after I delete them from SM mail.
What are your sever settings for "when I delete a message?" Unless
you've selected "remove immediately," all you're doing is marking
messages for later deletion (e.g., if you
select "move to trash," you also have to do an "empty trash" to purge
the messages; or if you select "mark as deleted" you also have to
compact the folder.) If they keep coming back, it might be a problem
with your IMAP server not getting the command, or not deleting things.
We run our own IMAP server, and I know that I sometimes have to kill
imapd to unwedge things. Also, SeaMonkey seems to get into funny
states now and again, particularly after a machine as woken from going
to sleep - the connection state goes wonkey.

Can't find "when I delete a message". Where is it?
Can I assume it's only in IMAP servers? I have POP server.
1. On the Thunderbird window, select your E-mail account. Right-click
and select Settings in the pull-down context menu.
2. If the account is collapsed in the Account Settings window (the
little triangle is pointing directly right), select the triangle to
expand the account.
3. On the Server Settings pane, do one of the following:
a. Uncheck the checkbox for "Leave messages on server".
or
b. Check the checkboxes for both "Leave messages on server" and "Until
I delete them" IN THAT ORDER.
4. Select the OK button.
Check the checkboxes for both "Leave messages on server"
and "Until I delete them" IN THAT ORDER.
This is exactly what I've done.
AND.. It's the way I have it in lots of other computers.
There must be something else bothering it.
