For long weeks now the situation with using IMAP/SMTP through Seamonkey

Following your accounts setup directions should get you a working account.

If I wanted to setup an IMAP account for my AOL address.

"IMAP Username: [email protected] (or @love.com, @games.com, etc.)
Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com (Use port 143 for standard or 993 for SSL connections)
SMTP Outgoing Server Address: smtp.aol.com Set the port to 587
SMTP Username: [email protected] (or @love.com, @games.com, etc.)
SMTP Password: password you use to login to Mail

For a secure connection, check the SSL option for IMAP/POP and TLS for SMTP in your mail program."

When I create the account the incoming server defaults to 143, so I cahnge it to 993 for a SSL connection.

To set up that secure connection I go to the Account Settings > Server Settings and select SSL/TLS for Connection Security, and normal password.

What are you doing differently in setting up your account?
