It works for real.
What I do is the same as yours. Only: 1. I don't use AOL. I have my own domains registered and hosting at one of the big provider firms. I use it for years now alreaady and it was all right with Seamonkey until recently.
Maybe they have to update their security certificates.
2. After I do everything like you described above I go to the mail client in Seamonkey and do "Check mail". Dialog window appears "Add security exception". But even if this window appears it's not possible to actually add any security exception, because tickbox "Permanently store exception" is greyed out.
I can't help with that.
The same with SMTP. So there is no way do get/send any e-mail through Seamonkey e-mail client unless you want to disable security encryption and send your login details in open text.
