Hello,

I just want to clarify what "old" means, related to a
software/application GUI (in my opinion)

Like explained earlier, some years ago (not so far away from today)
users had to adapt theirs habits to an UI.

the advent of mobile technology has changed the way GUIs are thoughts
the reason why is screen size.

There a science for that which is called Computer-Human Interaction(1)
and deal with cognitives effects of spatial interaction (among other things)

It is not a "new" science of course but since the last 5 years GUI
developers try to deal with it.

Old does not mean "ugly" or "bad". Old means not handling cognitive
effects in this particulary case.

Aesthetic criterias are subjectives. Such criterias can't be think alone.
Something that have a good design is something that consider
fonction(s), economic, social, cognitive dimensions...(2) in the most
suitable way. And of course, this way is not a static way... it changes !

In french we say: "Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien"
Well, you are right, it is not meaningless, but [as you know] this
advice is too often used as a "screen" by those who want to do nothing
to improve a situation.

I think that really motivated people, asking good questions and using
good tools can perform great things...

I am the kind of guy who want to improve situations...
