It will likely be as always: GTK2-bugs won't be fixed anymore and with time GTK2-Firefox/Thunderbird/SeaMonkey will not work properly or even not build. It will just happen. And some time after that, the build switch for GTK2 will be removed. GTK2 is a dead horse. GTK2 with Gecko is even more dead. I wouldn't waste any time to let it keep breathing.
