I don't know if this News group is where to get help with a problems I
have.
I bought a used laptop with WiFi using Windows Vista.
I have a wireless Internet Dish outside which connects to my computer
via a cable.
I bought and set up a NetGear 600 Router in my house - connected to
the ISP Cable.
It is working. This Desktop is connected to the Router right now via
a cable.
When I try to set up a WiFi connection on the Laptop, VISTA says I am
connected with a
strong signal.

However, when I start up SeaMonkey, it won't connect to the Internet.
I had set up and used SM - with the cable connected directly to the
Laptop - and got
onto the Internet. Now via the WiFi, I cannot connect.

Am I doing something wrong here ? How do I get the WiFi signal the
Laptop is getting
to interface with SeaMonkey and then the ISP ?

I have NEVER used WiFi and don't know squat about it. Especially the
Jargon. Dinosaur.

To narrow it down I would try other programs besides SM.
Your laptop probably has 20-100 programs that connect to the internet.
Try several of those and let us know the results.

OK.
I tried Internet Explorer. It was set to work offline. I set it to Online. No connection.
Went to Internet Options | Connections | Set Up Internet Connection.
Had two WAN Miniport Connections - went to Creat New Connection. Clicked "Wireless"
My 2.4 GHz connection came up says connected.
BUT - SM nor IE will connect.
Opened Network and Sharing Center i says I am connected to Router.
Pictorial has My Computer ---line---Unidentified Network ----X-----Internet
"View Full Map" ----> says I have an Incompatible Router !

At this point I am stumped.
I can get the Internet when wired (ethernet cable) to the Router (what I am doing NOW),
but my Laptop won't connect via WiFi even when receiving strong signal.

Looked into connection Atheros AR5007WiFi adapter...says working properly.
Driver up to date- visited their website. I got to "Network Connection Details" - gibberish to me.
I tried connecting via something on Internet Options and Got this:
Error 815: Blah blah....maybe bad "Service Name" ???????? lost at this point.

Does any of this make sense ?

Eventually I may go PAY to have someone finger this out, but for now TRYING to do it myself.
