I do have the latest version (2.46)downloaded from

Any suggestions on to get rid of this? As far as I know, there no "official"
release of anything
higher than 2.46
Do you use Avast? I received a similar message a short time ago. How I
resolved it: I added the
seamonkey update web address to the white-list within Avast. Problem was
solved. I hope it helps.
By update web address, do you mean https://www.seamonkey-project.org/ ?
I added the following to "Exclusions" within Avast:
https://aus2-community.mozilla.org/update/3/%PRODUCT%/%VERSION%/%BUILD_ID%/%BUILD_TARGET%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/%OS_VERSION%/%DISTRIBUTION%/%DISTRIBUTION_VERSION%/update.xml
If you go to Seamonkey's browser settings, that is the path used to
check for updates. And since I added that path to the Exclusions in
Avast, I never received the warning messages again. If I recall, it all
started when I updated Avast to the next available update. So, I'm
assuming, they made some changes on their end. Maybe it will work for
you as well.
