I read the article you linked to and you seem to have missed the
point. Quoting from it:

The rest of the article explains why this is to be considered so, and
yes - spam is part of that.
Gee, if we closed things down because of SPAM, we'd close IRC, E-mail
and Web Browsing .... oh, and Snail Mail as well!! ;-P
