Do you have web access for this account? It might be that USPS is sending you a ton of them, which you could confirm by viewing the inbox online. Do you have the "remove duplicates" add-on? If so, does it identify these as true duplicates? Have you tried restarting SeaMonkey to see if that clears it up? I have a periodic problem with it failing to fetch email for an account that is only corrected by a restart.
