(1) Generally, error messages are bad. Therefore, generally, clicking
'ignore' will generate an installation that doesn't work properly.

(2) Were you already running a program called "freenet.exe" or perhaps was
there an application named "freenet.exe" already open in some viewer (e.g.
"Microsoft Dependency Browser" or "Quick View" ? ).

(3) Try re-downloading the installer (cos this sounds pretty weird, and
I've not seen it before).

See point 1. above... Freenet won't start cos it isn't installed properly
(as you practically admitted!)
Also - what file did you download (please give the URL). When I searched
java.sun.com I ended up here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/download-windows.html
Check that that's the same JRE file you're downloading

Oh, and, yeh, after downloading it, did you run it? I know it's kinda
implied by "please install the Java Runtime Environment" but you'd be amazed
(or, perhaps not) by the number of people who download it and then don't run
it ...

Try this:
Try doing a find for the files "java.exe" and/or "javaw.exe" (i.e press and
hold Windows key on keyboard and tap F). Search on "all local hard drives".
If nothing turns up, the Java Runtime Environment wasn't installed
correctly.

If something turns up, there must be a bug in the installer. If this is the
case, what folder did you install the JRE into (e.g. G:\Program
Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_02 )

We'll be doing a new freenet release that fixes some of the known issues
with the installer, and if none of the above fixes anything for you, the new
installer might.

Dave
