I didn't say that it is more stable, but that it is faster.

I'had to put the JVM at 200 MB because I had some outofmemory exceptions,
but BTW it seems that latest builds use far less memory and threads since
multiplexing is available.

Since, my node never died. It ran all the week end w/o any problem (other
than BW overload).

It seems OK for me, but I'm quite new with the freenet, so I'm not an expert.

Otherwise, I had also to increase the file descriptors allowed for the
user runninf the node (ulimit).
