To recover a file, you'll need Filemaker 4 or 5, then:

- open filemaker (don't open any data files).
- In the top menu line, click on FILE, then click on RECOVER.
- A file-open dialog box opens. At the bottom of the box at the FILE OF
TYPE line, pick all files. Then find the drive and folder for your ebase
files. You should see the NAMES_.102 file.
- It will prompt you for a new file name (the original file won't change).

Filemaker will then go through a process where it will try to fix the file.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It might let you see the data,
but layouts and scripts will be screwed up. It may appear to work OK, but
internal things might be messed up.

If it does seem to recover, you should export the raw data out of NAMES_ and
import it into a clean copy. Let me know if you get this far.
