The FileMaker donations page is
http://www.filemaker.com/company/donations.html It's a pretty
straightforward process. Go for it, regardless of the 90 days.

There are different ways to tackle the networking issue. If low upfront
(and just upfront) cost a big issue, you don't need a license of FM for each
workstation on your network. Install it and ebase on one computer. That
works as the server - I'll assume you're using Win9x local networking.
Other folks on the network can get to the ebase data but only one person at
a time can ever have it open.

It'll work but you're asking for trouble in terms of stability and data
integrity. ebase/FM is likely to crash sometimes when someone opens it
while its already open. Make data backups religiously b/c there's no
guarantee that the FM recover utility will get your data back exactly the
way it was before the crash.

If you have six (or however many) licenses, more than one person at a time
can have the database open. This doesn't make it much more stable, however.
Seems that the current thinking is that FM Server is your best option on a
network - even of only 6 workstations - if you're really working alot on the
data and stability/integrity is a high priority (more so than upfront cost).

That said, there are lots of folks using ebase on a local network w/o FM
Server. Some with good results, some with headaches. Just backup that
data. It's a Windows-driven system, after all, so you never know what's
going to happen next.
