Do I run this report in the payment query screen? Also, I would like to
exclude a specific donor type. How can this be done?

Assuming that you chose 1996 because that is when your database was created;
and you want to find out all of the members whose expiration dates are
seriously expired, here's how I would do it:
Do a find for lapsed members in the member status box and on the same
screen, type in the renewal date as <12/31/00 or whatever date in 2001.
