You don't say, but I read "lapsed donors" as meaning someone who
hasn't contributed in a while, not specifically an expired membership.
You're looking for people, not individual payments, so you do the
query in the names file. There are fields on the Query Screen 2 (the
Donor section) for Last Year $ and Prev Year $ (which is 2 years
back, or 1991. These summaries are accumulated for fiscal year, as
defined in the setup section, but if, as is the case with most
organizations, your fiscal year is the calendar year, it would work
fine. So, you search for greater than zero (>0) in the Prev Year
field, and zero in the Last Year and YTD fields.
Then, to exclude the donor type, add a new request, enter the donor
type, and click the Omit box on the far left.
Note that the summary fields aren't current unless you have run the
Replace All Find Fields script.
