Joan and others,

Just a side comment first. While I'm always happy to help, I'm not
always on the computer nor checking my email. Also, there are a lot of
folks on the ebase list who have a ton of knowledge, most of whom are
users like me. With that in mind, you might get a better response from
others on the list if you don't direct your question to any one person
on the list.

OK, having said that, it will be hard to figure out what's going on
without a little more information. Walt's suggestions were good, though
it sounds like they aren't the problem.

Try to tell us exactly what you do and what happens with ebase. How are
you opening ebase? What messages come up? Have you ever crashed ebase
and had to recover the files? With the file still open, try adding a
name, then adding a payment. Go back to the Home screen. Do you get a
record number for the person's record (in the gray box next to the name
line on the Home screen preceded by the # character)? From the Home
screen for this person's record, can you click on the payments tab and
find the added payment there?

It sounds like your backup has some of your data in it, true? How do
you back up and to what medium (the hard drive where ebase is stored? a
zip disk? a CD?) When you "restore" the file from the backup, how are
you doing this?

After restoring from the backup, you presumably have some of your own
data in the files. Are you saying that after adding records and closing
ebase, there's no data in the file except Marshall's record?

Any such information may be helpful for solving this problem.

Lastly, you don't *have* to change the passwords - I haven't b/c I'm the
only one who has access to the computer - you change it in order to
tighten security. This, in any case, isn't the problem.
