Given that filemaker does crash and force you to restore from a backup
occasionally and that the errors may not be apparent for a while, it is
prudent to keep many layers of backups. With ZIP disks at about $10 each it
is far cheaper to install a CD writer where the media is $0.50 each and is
permanent. You never overwrite it. We make daily backups on a set of 5 zip
disks, one for each day and then reuse them the next week. We also make
weekly backups to CD and get many to a CD, just make a folder with the name
being the date and copy the files into that folder. These are all offsite as
soon as written.
Wonderful. So, I buy a CD to do weekly backups (and insert the CD, just as
if I'm inserting an audio CD yes?)...but what is the CD writer...media
$0.50? Is this something I definitely need and if so, how do I obtain?
Thanks again
