Rachel,

It sounds like you are doing finds directly on the payments screen - either
with the find button or by hitting ctrl-F.   

Try using the query section.  There, you can search different
name/demographic data on one screen, go to payment info on another screen
and maintain a single find.  What you're looking for should be on screen 2
(donor info) of the query section.  I don't have ebase in front of me, so I
cant recall if pay memo is a field on that screen layout by default.
