>From a user's perspective, your misunderstanding arises from this: the set of records you found were not a set of Names file records (donors) but instead were a set of Payments file records. The way to go about finding donors (Names file records) within a certain giving range is to do just as you did--first find any payments in that dollar range (and possibly a date range) in the Payments file. With those payments identified you can then do two things with your found set.  To engage the possibilities offered with the Output tab, you would need to hit the Transfer to Names button in Payments. This then gives you the found set of  the Names records for those donors and you can run labels and such; however, moving over to Names does not bring over any of the data captured solely in those specific payment records (e.g., amount of payment, date of payment). To have that information available, you would stay in Paynments to create letters with payment-specific information. You can use the Filemaker Export functions (choose "File" then "Export Records" and proceed from there)  to select any fields you will need in your merge letter. Just be clear that you are working with two distinct files, Payments and Names, and that you will need to know which fields come from which file.

I don't understand how that happens, ebase lets me keep the found set
whether I am in Home, Output or any of the tabs, does anyone else know why
this happens to him?
