You have somehow gotten some bum information. You won't be able to "import" a Word document into ebase in the same sense that you import records from a text file. You have a couple of options to merge data from ebase and text from Word. You can copy the text from your Word document and paste it onto a letter layout, then edit to include merge fields such as name, address, payment amount, etc. This works only if you have FileMaker and are therefore able to get into layout mode in ebase using the master password. If you move in that direction, I would recommend reviewing the section in your FileMaker manual on working with layouts, and maybe experimenting a bit. The other way is to export the data from ebase to a text file and merge it into a Word document. The Output tab at the top right of your ebase screen is the start. Choose the export button and select the fields you want to export. More detail on that in your ebase manual. Creating the Word document and merging the data is beyond the scope of this list, and my abilities, but you will find more on that in the Word user manual. -- -- Dave Shaw H4 Consulting tel: 206-954-7526 fax: 206-625-1338 ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
