Hi Tina,

We've been very happy with ebase. We do preservation and have 7-8000
records, so our needs are a bit different. First, let me issue two caveats:

1. ebase is big and has a significant learning curve.
2. You will probably want to customize. That means a consultant if you can't
do it yourself.

That being said, the same is probably true with most of the alternatives.
ebase was developed by environmental groups, so the focus is more on
activism and less on fundraising and record-keeping. We don't even use the
voter/legislative district stuff. If I were just starting, I would hold back
on customizing v1 and put the effort into v2, when it becomes available in
the winter (hopefully). Keep in mind that, while ebase is free, FileMaker
purchases, hardware, customization and user training are still issues. But
you knew that.
