Note also that if your remote users ONLY have dialup access, then you can consider Windows Terminal Services or Citrix which allow multiple users simultaneous access to ebase. Terminal Services and Citrix work on the same (low bandwidth utilization) principle as PCAnywhere, but they allow multiple simultaneous access which (if my understanding is correct) PCAnywhere does not.
VPN (in general) requires broadband access at the remote sites. We are in the process of implementing a terminal services solution at our office for our remote workers.
