We are trying to track how our various members are connected to our organization -- partially for major donor development, but for general relationship building as well. Here is the info I want to track and be able to print out in some convenient way:
1. How did this person find out about us (that would be origin in the name data entry screen). 2. What are the connections this person has to our organization? This could be who do they know on the staff, board, ex-board. Also, this could be more than one person so I need a field that can accept multiple entries. Also, it would be nice to know what organization this person belongs to. 3. Who asked them for the gift or signed the letter? I suppose this could be source code but there's also the field in payment entry that allows me to enter a name. 4. Who is their assigned contact? We're trying to have our board members "buddy" with our members so that when someone gets a letter from us, it is signed by their designated board member. This may change from time to time so this needs to be a field that is easily updated. I'm a newbie here and it appears that historically we have not used the notes screens or the activist screens much. I have not had any formal e-base training so I am making this up as I go along. Any ideas of ways to use e-base more fully? Is there a good place for me to go to learn? I also need an easy way to print out a member's name along with all the other bits of contact info in an easy "catalog" format. Is there someplace I can go which tells me the name of each exportable field and what it does? I guess I'm still trying to figure out how best to use our database and what are the strengths and limitations of e-base (version 1.00 or 1.02). Is it effective for major donor tracking? Are these practical requests?
