Arif, I hadn't understood that you were on a network, and my suggestion was intended only for a single users scenario - but apparently it worked?
For a network situation in which the host machine had all files open, my suggestion would probably work best if you manually open the file from your connection, then close your connection, then re-open via Hosts (apparently, Hosts is the best/only way to open client copies, so if you use the regular Open command as I recommended, you'd want to then immediately close ebase and reopen in the proper way to avoid instability problems). Truthfully, though, I wouldn't have suggested doing that without trying it myself first. But sounds like it worked. As for why this happens, I can't say (must be the keys...). But it does happen, on fairly rare occasions. Could be there were at one time two copies of the Contacts file on the host machine and FMP got confused and opened the wrong copy. This apparently happens at odd times though I don't understand why. Once it finds a new path for opening files, it likes to stay with that path, hence the dialog box you got. Open the proper file in the right place and the problem generally goes away.
