Subject: Multiple questions - please help!

In April, I inherited an ebase program in poor shape, and was wondering if
anyone could help me out with some solutions for these problems on my 1.03
version.

1. All my file extensions are .100, but I have files named names.100,
names_new recovered 2.100; two files identically named custom_.100, custom
recovered 3_.100, customR3_.100,custom recovered 3 recovered_.100 . Backups
were sporadic, and my back-ups would contain all this hodgepodge of info.
Any cleanup ideas? When I tried to delete what I think are the obsolete
files, ebase tells me it needs them to open something. This is true with
almost all the files. How can ebase run so many different files? How do I
instruct ebase to recognize only those files I identify, or do I somehow
merge these files into one????

2. Thank you letter #2 will not print the last couple of rows of text.
This is extremely bizarre as I've tried to shorten text length, move the
text positioning up, nothing works to allow the end of the letter to print.

3. Also, I know you can't change the letter name, but is there a way to
add descriptor text so each is readily identifiable, or is it just easier to
use a word processor for all correspondence?

4. Tools Find doesn't always retrieve a complete list of matching names.
I have to research by another name - first name or city to have ebase locate
the donor. This happens about 40% of the time.

5. Last, when I first open FileMaker, I have to search my ebase folder
for all file types, not filemaker files, to get into the names function. At
the same time, it does flash a message about opening other files. Is this
S.O.P.? (Standard Operating Procedure?)

Sorry for the lengthy list. It's taken me a while to unravel a multitude of
problems with my ebase and narrow my list down to this for starters. I so
far am not one to tout the glories of ebase, but the lousy previous
maintenance is most likely the cause of all these frustrations.

I had hoped to attend the 2.0 training classes scheduled last fall, but they
were too expensive for me to attend. Any chance of something coming soon in
Colorado? Or should I even worry about upgrading to 2.0 at this point?

Thanks to all for your help!
