You don't say what ebase does to "automatically adds two other action
preferences." I'll make a guess - You select one action preference,
execute the search, and the found set includes records with the other
two checked. I'll further guess that the other two action preferences
have words in common with the one you selected.

If that's the problem, FileMaker (and therefore ebase) is acting as
advertised. When asked to search for several words in a field, it
returns records with any of those words. For example, "special
events", "organize events", and "volunteer at events" have a word in
common. Searching for any of them will result in records with any of
the three being included in the found set.

There are a couple of ways to work around this, all of them to some
degree complicated since you already have data with this data in it.

The first, and best, is to replace the values with more than one word
with values that have only one word. In the example above, change the
values in the value list to Events, Organize, and Volunteer, or
SpecialEvents, OrganizeEvents, and VolunteerEvents. You can change
the values in the existing records by using the FileMaker Replace
Command if there are more than you want to review manually. This is
the only way out if you are using the runtime application.

Second, add an action preference field to your layout and format it
as a standard field. Search in this field, and precede the value with
== to force FileMaker to find only exactly the text typed in.
