>How do I install ebase from scratch with the original data? I do not have a CD burner on my old computer. How do I move the data from one to another?
You need some form of connection. Unless your database is very small, floppies will just not cut it. So you need either a zip drive, a CD burner, a network connection, a laplink parallel port connection, a USB connection, or even upload as a mail attachment and download if your ISP will allow big enough files. >How do I copy the data from an old computer onto a sample copy? What is a sample copy? One that I get off the ebase website?? I don't know what you mean by a sample copy or where did you see that term used. To move the data you need to move all the .10x files. The original distribution has some sample data in it but that is the only reference to sample data that I am aware of. >I have a PC not a Mac. The process is very similar. >What does Filemaker pro have to offer? No one has ever said what it does. Will it be worth the $150 or so to buy it? You must have FMP to run multiuser or to modify ebase beyond the simple customizations that ebase provides. Ebase is distributed with a runtime library supplied by FileMaker and runs as an application on it. ------------------ Reminder to each recipient: To change your list account preferences, go to http://email.sparklist.com/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=support and enter the email address you used to subscribe to the ebase support list:: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ebase - Relationship Management for Nonprofits, http://www.ebase.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------
