I agree about avoiding the REPLACE command for a mass update.  I would only
use it as a cleanup step for lots of sloppy data entry.

I would warn against doing the REPLACE command. Many zipcodes cover more
than one town/city. People will complain if you change to the wrong town
even though the mail will probably get there.
