I thought that to the extent that FMP and ebase are cross-platform
applications the following question might be appropriate:

We have had difficulty opening .jpg's and .gif's created on the Mac
side, on our Windows 95 PC's. For example, photos were scanned on a
Mac as .tiff's, converted to .jpg's with Graphic Converter (on the
Mac), transferred to PC formatted floppies, and installed on our PC.
Their icons appear as generic Windows icons, and on attempting to
open them, we get a message that the format is unknown. What is
really confounding is that sometimes they will open in Internet
Explorer or if they are manually given the .jpg extension (which is
absent in Mac). I have had similar problems sending .jpg files
created on Macs as email attachments to people who had PC's: one
correspondent said that they would not open "even in Photoshop" or on
another occasion Register, com could not open a .jpg logo created on a
Mac.

Can somebody help with something basic that I do not understand? Thanks.
