When Windows copies files from a CD-ROM, it always marks them as read-only, which is almost certainly what is causing your errors. This is a consistent behavior of Windows, and doesn't just happen with FMP files.
To correct, you need to un-mark the Read Only attribute for all files. Select all the files, right-click and choose Properties, then uncheck the Read Only box. You can also pretty easily write a batch script to do this for you. An internet search would probably turn one up that you could use. HTH, M.
