At the Rivers Council, we use the <<Staff Assigned>> field for that purpose. It can be staff, board members, friends of the organization, whomever the primary contact for that person is. This field doesn't live on any screens yet, but you can go into layout mode and place it on any screen (e.g. the Data Entry 1 screen).
You'd enter the name of the relevant staff person in that field for the record you want to have associated with that staff person. You could do more, including linking the staff or board member's ebase record to this person via the record number and some fancy relationship building in Filemaker, but that would take a bit of sophisticated customizations, and would require more careful thought about what you want to do.
