Hello,

I rushed to 1.2 as many others did I presume ;)

I'm running 1.0-RELEASE on my home fw (simple adsl and two subnets). And I
am not able to upgrade it to 1.2 by any means.

"Firmware upgrade" through web gui: It looks like something (one of the
scripts) kills lighttpd immediately after the tar.gz is uploaded as no
changes are done to the filesystem and lighty needs to be brought back up
manually via ssh. So no luck that way.

Ok, I thought, let's do the iso thing and full reinstall. MD5 checked ok. I
know from past expirience that pfsense is *extremely* touchy to quality
burners and cd media, so I prepared two different burners, four different
media and three different cdrom drives.

Guess what ... I went through all 24 combinations ... *one* was even so
kind as to show me a blink of boot loader text and then reboot, all others
rebooted immediately.

It's needless to say that I can install any linux distro on any combo of
these burners/media/drives anytime without a problem.

So please *please* PLEASE do something about this PoS boot loader of
yours ... as it is obviously doing a great unjustice to the pfsense as a
whole. I'm sure there are better alternatives around ...

Alternatively, can anyone help me with a hint on how to fix 1.0-rel online
upgrade scripts so that they actually do what they're meant to do?

Thanks,
