I'm rather happy with the HP ProCurve switch family. Others have
pointed towards the fanless 1800 product line

They're around the same price as Netgears (J9028B sells for about 270 EUR,
the 1800-8G for some 110 EUR -- GS108T-100US for 75 EUR), so I would go 
with HPs. Less pain that way.
