That sounds plausible. How would I go about testing that? I did a quick check by establishing an inbound connection through the master hoping it would replicate the state to the backup, all the while doing a packet capture on the PFSYNC interfaces on both pfSense boxes. I didn't see any multicast come into the backup, but I didn't see any multicast leave the master either.
