It should be clear from the context that the little experiment I
reported on was not done for pleasure but to test if such sounds
could be localised or not when reproduced correctly.

That test in turn was not done for pleasure, but only after some
people claimed (wrongly and without any convincing argumentation)
that one could not localise such sounds.

Consider the following two statements:

1. Correct directional reproduction of very low frequencies is 
not essential as in almost all real-life signals there will be
overtones or other higher frequency energy associated with the
LF source, and these will provide adequate localisation.

2. Correct directional reproduction of very low frequencies is
not necessary as we can't determine their direction anyway.

I could probably agree with (1). But not with (2). Now you could
argue that if (1) is true then it becomes irrelevant if (2) is
correct or not. That is no longer the case if (2) is put forward
to justify the defects of some reproduction system, as was done.
Used as such it is a false and misleading argument.
