then, supposing that we impose using "only positive elevations" for the encoded audio material, and loading your recommended preset, if I truncate the physical speakers like:
0º elevation -> 8 speakers +45º elevation -> 6 speakers plus 1 speaker on top will this truncation preserve the sound image decently? I would be more than happy if you could send me that preset, thank you very much. For full 3D 3rd order, one of the best setups is 1 + 6 + 8 + 6 + 1, meaning 1 speaker at the bottom (optional of course), a ring of 6 at elevation -45 degrees, a ring of 8 at zero elevation, a ring of 6 at +45 degrees and 1 on top. Without the bottom one that's 21 speakers. This is being used at various places with Ambdec. I'd be happy to provide the decoder preset. Note that to preserve horizontal resolution at +/-45 degree you really need six (8 * cos (45) rounded up) and not four. With less speakers on those rings you get a 3rd order horizontal-only system with a lower order 3D on superposed on it. P.S. Your TetraMic config will be ready in a few days. Ciao, -- FA A world of exhaustive, reliable metadata would be an utopia. It's also a pipe-dream, founded on self-delusion, nerd hubris and hysterically inflated market opportunities.
