I would think that it is due to the lack of true tech support, and the
consumer being assumed to be kinda slow.

I don't like having a lot of extra drivers or DLL files on my HD.  I tend to
get a lot of them if I have tried out a lot of different programs or
hardware setups, or whatever.  If I get particularly dissatisfied with the
size of my C:\Windows or C:\windows\system directory in Win311 FWG's then I
might do a re-install.  That is about the best way I can see to get rid of
extra files.

If I ever get around to switching drive id#s on my scsi drives I will
re-install and switch boot drives.  I want to switch to the faster drive as
my boot drive.
