Yes, you do lose all and start from scratch. it's time consuming and
frustrating. This time, when my computer did whatever it did, I just
deleted all the weirdo files and scandisk files, and reinstalled the
missing software. So far so good? You cannot put win95 cd in the drive
and run an install unless it's on a clean, formatted drive. If you have
software on it, it tells you that the install disk is only for computers
new from the factory, not for reinstall. Nonsense! So, win98 is supposed
to be an upgrade and you install it over win95. Bad idea. Wanna see it
really grind? You again, must clean off the drive first. I hear there's a
win98 light which uses mostly win95 files with the newer shell which is
supposed to be less buggy and faster and all. I might try it. I'm tired
of trying out new versions of crap though. I think I'll stick with this
crap till I can switch over to an alternate O/S.
