You can just edit the paths for all the icons on your desktop.  open the
properties of each one, or edit, or whatever you can find, (I've forgotton
he name and menu of it in win3.1)  I know it's not too deep, it's off file
or edit menu and not obscure.

the dialog box that appears has a "browse" button for you to go find the
application it refers to and click it so the icon which represents a
shortcut, can find it.
It's good to get to know your file structure and what better way than to
hunt out your shortcuts! :-)
