There's indeed a blatant bias in the general press coverage (take for
instance, the Int.Herald Trib of Apr 1st, it got even worse on Apr
2nd/3rd with the world wide reporting of the FBI getting at the presumed
"Melissa" author); as Bernie wrote on: Thu, 1 Apr 1999:

The situation is really absurd. Micro$oft does enormous PR (and
infiltrated schools, public administrations, you name it - much more
efficient than "Scientology" ever could dream of) and succeded in
making believe "the public", and certainly published opinion, that
there's nothing else used in the cumputing world but Win$; but then
the one and only relevant information is never mentioned - that is,
that everone can avoid to drown with M$ Desaster, and quite many (how
many precisely: one fourth, one third - could be somewhere in that
range - of the computering public) didn't even come into the situation
in the first hand.
