I think we should rescue it from the darkness; for two reasons:

- Continue development of a potentially useful product, probably
  using the GPL philosophy.  If the author's vanished and left the
  source "in public" it's anyone's to adopt.  With appropriate
  acknowledgements of course.

- If VMiX does become well-known this may encourage the original
  author to reveal themselves.  Maybe he/she got run over by a bus,
  or has retired to a monastry, or is on the run....?

As I've said before on this list, I reckon it's stupid to kill off
old but useful software just to placate the lawyers.
