I think you refer to me, and I was not talking about taking
out MS-DOS 7 out of Windows 95. MS-DOS 7 do not have any
multi-tasking ability.
I was talking about extracting several portions out of Windows 95,
in away so it will be able to run on DOS, without the rest of
Windows 95. (Windows 95, after all, is a DOS program.)
There was a URL posted about Windows without the GUI, but my
idea was not how to run Windows without the GUI, and only
get the multitasking. I was thinking more over the direction
of actually taking out several wanted portions, like LFN
and multi-tasking. I believe that its possible. Only problem
is, exactly how HARD is it to do. Especialy with Microsoft
trigger-happy to find "copyright violations".

Ever seen a DOS multi-tasker/task-switcher? Once a certain hot-key
is pressed, a menu of the manager is displayed, which allow you
to perform all types of functions. Making such a launcher menu
should be possible.
In the DR-DOS multi-tasker, pressing [CTRL]+[ALT]+[INS] will
launch a COMMAND.COM season. [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] will terminate
the current task, and (in my key configuration) [LEFT SHIFT]+[ESC]
will cause the multi-tasker control menu to pop-up.
You can change tasks using the control menu, or
[CTRL]+[ALT]+[Gray -] and [CTRL]+[ALT]+[Gray +] to swap up
and down the task list.
They call it a hot-key. Its very possible to make a small launch
menu that is availble on a press of a hot-key.
Now, as far as the techincal "how to do it" stuff goes, I have
no idea. :)
BTW, exactracting Win9x modules and drivers from Win9x to be
used on DOS could be usefull, for example, for FAT32 support.
I sepose it can help.
